Soft Top Springs Road Springs and Stainless exhausts

Just a quick questionto the learned masses

Finally getting round to refurbing my hood and frame as Summer is just round the corner and need some shade!

Does anyone know if paddocks does the spring pictured below?JP list part number 622605/6 as a deflector spring? not sure what that is?

Rimmers say no longer available on part number 627047/8

In Australia does any of the Oz Boys know of a road spring manufacturer for the Stag I want to go 1" lower?

King Springs only do Standard height. i suspect they are thin on the ground over here as I read Raoul used one of MrTony Harts kit.

Again in Oz any one do a complete stainless system for reasonable money for the Stag?

    many thanks.

I would have thought your best bet would be someone lke Martin at Just Triumph or Wins International or some other breaker. I can't imagine postal costs to Oz would be too much.

    Happy hunting.

    Cheers

        Hey Nige'

        How ya goin'?

I don't know of any lowered springs available in Oz, but the sea freight cost from the UK isn't too bad. regarding the stainless exhaust, I got mine from BAC in Brisbane, cost around AU $900.00 about 8 years ago. They got it from Rimmers for me. I think they charged me theretail price for an system from Rimmers, allowing for the exchange rate, and added freight from Brissy to Cairns. It worked out a lot cheaper than I could get one, locally made or shipped from the UK, it may be worth giving them a call.PM or callme it you want their contact details.

I've heard rumours on an annual Triumph weekendin Brissy or the Gold Coast every October, do you know any thing about it? I'm very tempted to give my Stag a "little exercise" and drive down in air conditioned comfort, next year if you could let me know any contact details and dates you may have.

Any help you need with the roof, just let me know.

        Cheers for now,

        Raoul

            Hi Nige,
Re the replacement springs for the front end,my suggestion would have been King Spring's, but sounds as though you have been down that track without success, years ago a friend had new springs made for his Stag by Industrial Engineers and Springmakers in Adelaide, www.industrialsprings.com.au they might be worth a try.
For some reason Stainless exhaust systems are expensive here in Aust, I presume it has to do with economies of scale and it is time consuming to manufacture "one off" systems, most club members have found it is cheaper to import complete systems from either Paddock's or Rimmers, even with the freight costs added.
            Regards,
            Peter.

Save some money and don't get an exhaust that is made for a Stag. Get you local Exhaust shop to make a straight through system with a X-pipe and then finish it off with Two, 1000cc V twin, motor bike silencers.

Or even cheaper make it yourself, its time consuming but not hard.

With a free flowing system the extra power is noticeable and it sounds fantastic.

                  Hello Raoul,

Here is the next Big one coming up down south http://www.tsoaq.org.au/events/view/149/12.htmlits the forty birthday bash.

I was planning on going with my new hood etc but looks like it may not happen due to nylon coatings etc, I may have to go with the hard top on just in case it rains. I may even get the air con re gassed and give that a spin.

As far as the annual event goes its most likely Mac's Bridge, it was the last one thisyear held at Jimboomba. As from next year it will be held at Lakeside north side of Brissy (but not much) http://www.macleansbridge.com/

It was normally all over by about 14:00 on the day and was always well attended but to come on down from Kewarra wow that would be dedication ;-)

http://www.tsoaq.org.au/macleans-bridge.html. Try this link also if you click the You Tube link the first Stag you see in the first Pan of the camera at about 4 sec's is old BT.

Thanks for BAC i had forgotten all about them, they may be cheaper than importing direct. I had a good look around and found nothing for the springs or exhaust.

Ill come a shouting for the roof, Ihave just printed up the templates you emailed for the J legs etc so i will see how i go.

                  Nige'

Did got some prices for the system to made from scratch over here and my word at $6k for the cheapest i think not! (no manifolds or extractors as they are known here)

A straight through system would sound great but it would knock the Koala's out of the trees.....
