    ENGINE TRAINING NOTES

I picked this up from a very pleasant eBay chappie last week. Not sure whether it covers things differently to the Workshop Manual, but it's in a very handy format.

Don't know if this is all old hat and everyone has it, but I scanned the document in, tidied it up a bit with photoshop and, of course for my own private use only, I put it as a pdf file on my website so I can access it from anywhere.

The nuisance is, I haven't worked out how to protect my website and so anyone could visit it at
http://www.rsmk2.com go to the cars / Stag section, and view and download this booklet . Obviously I would never try to publish a copyrighted document on t'Internet . (In actual fact, there are no copyright marks).

I'm not sure if my server has any download limits, so that will have to be a case of suck and see.

    Here is a sample page:

    Hi Dasadrew,
That looks like it's from the Factory training hand book, the small yellow covered one. I have one and found it very useful when doing my carb overhaul.

        Hi Drew

You're so right about your site not being secure. I went onto it (just out of interest) and while I was reading that document I think my elbow pressed the mouse just as it was hovering over "save as". Sorry about that ...I tried to delete it but it wouldn't.

If I'm even clumsier in work tomorrowI might even lean on the print to photocopier button.

        Regards and thanks

        David

Yeah, I bought one of those a while ago and very usable it is.

Interesting point though - is it copyrighted and, if so, who owns the copyright? BMW??

My copy looks like someone has just photocopied an original and I'm sure whoever I bought it from is paying a fortune to BMW for the copyright - yeah right

And come to think of it, although my parts book is a genuine original 'obtained' from my former employer, what about all the new ones that are available today?

Thinking even wider, does SOCTFL have to pay anything for the right to produce panels? Or is it all a total free for all after 30 years or whatever. I don't know any of the answers, does anyone?

Well, even Lego's patent on knobbly bricks has expired, so I think we're safe!

i also aquired this booklet in original form some years ago but would be interested to see the training film refered to in the book or even get a copy as the book is quite informative.

What a shame you couldn't protect your site. Great little booklet but, unfortunatley, no use to me.

Hi guys, I was given this booklet as part of a Rover Triumph Technicians Correspondence course in 1974. I was moonlighting from the RAF at the time and working for Lex Mead the BMC dealer in Cheltenham. There was also one on the Dolomite Sprint engine. I have them somewhere but as we moved house in March they are not immediately to hand.

                          Hi Peter,

Smallish world - I worked for Lex Mead and Lex Motor Company from 71 to 79. Most of the time was in Cardiff and Swansea but I was Parts Manager at Gloucester for about 6 months and occasionally helped out at Cheltenham

Don't think we met though :?

                          Cheers
