    battery alternative?

    Hello,

Every time I remove the battery e.g. for dry winter storage I could strangle the designer.

I know that some of you have relocated the battery to the boot or the soft top compartment. But I am looking for an easier solution.

So I keepwondering whether there is a smallerbattery, which fits into the battery compartment whithout having to dismantle the POS pump. Is there one on the market with the same output but smaller dimensions? Any experiences?

    Kind regards, Dieter.

    Hello Dieter,

My Volvo battery was replace with a much smaller, possibly half the size of the original and worked perfectly but cannot remember who supplied it.....it was along time ago.

I'm sure with modern technology there must be a smaller one for the Stag, I'd like one too so if you find one, please let me know.

    Jeff.

My Dad's been running his Stag for 8 years now with a £20 Leyland Mini battery in it. He's never needed a jump start yet!

So is that a mini battery or a mini battery?

I'm sure I read thatthe Stag was not going to have Power steering as standard - hence battery position.

But, without looking at my car, you've only got about 10cms gap haven't you? You couldn't get much in there - I reckon maybe you could do something like this

Besides if rabbits can run on Duracell, then why not Stags ?

Alternatively, you could always fit manual steering !!

I was thinking of that as I typed . So, both! He's now doing the same in his every day Jag. The electrical system was destroying the proper £100 battery every 2 years, so he's running a mini (BL) battery in that too with no problems.

It's only three bolts and a couple of wing nuts, and at least you don't have to take part of the exhaust off.

                  Hi,

Wasn't there a post that someone fitted there's in the hood well, plenty of room there, once in place I think they had a box made up to go over the top and of course bolted down.

                    Hello,

What I dislike about the "hood compartment method" is the fact that acid or gases from the battery do not go very well with the fabric of the hood.

                    Kind regards, Dieter.

When the threads go in the RH Head for the Power Steering bolts you have a problem. Mine went many years ago and there is now not enough Aluminium left to support a helicoil. I have had to make an extra bracket now to keep the original power steering bracket in place (bit of a heath robinson job), and I dread having to change the Battery again.

However I have been given a brochure about "Stinger" batteries which are supposedly half the size of a normal battery but expensive. The website is http://www.stingerelectronics.com.

Know that problem; on the old head I went metric, Mr Triumph would have turned in his grave, when once of the threads gave up the ghost. There's a brand new head on there now so I'm really carefull when tightening up the bolts,
