    Looks like its goodby.

I understand the decision to not allow non SOC members to post on this forum. Not a problem for me.

Many thanks to all who have helped me, offered advice and the very warm welcome I received from Dave (DJT ) when I was a SOC member.

    Don Kennedy.

This post was edited as it has gone in a direction that I did not want it to, my original message seems to have been misunderstood or I did not word it right. If my fault I of course apologise to all.

    Hi

I received the same email and I agree 100% with Don's comments.

I have very much enjoyed this forum - I used to be an SOC member but decided not to rejoin for exactly the reasons that Don mentioned .

If the committee had decided to make a charge for being a forum member then I have no problem with that, but I amnot prepared to pay for something I don't need , to enjoy this forum.

So its goodbye from me as well

    Ray Preston

This is my 1000th post which will mean bu***r all to everybody else but is quite a milestone to me. I’ve had a brilliant time on the forum and it’s been virtually my only contact with the SOC – a club in which I’m proud to be a member.

I hope my 1000th post will be read as a positive, not negative, one.

Although I use the internet a lot, I really do not (grumpy old man mode now) want to get into the world of twitter, facebook etc. However I accept that it is the future. In my previous work role, knowledge of Facetwittinternet etc was becoming more important so I was quite happy to retire and leave it to younger people who embraced the whole thing more than I did.

Now, I’m certainly not suggesting that any of the SOC hierarchy who, I am sure, put an immense amount of time and effort into the Club should retire, however I wholly support what Don has said and I feel it is imperative that the Club look to the future and wholeheartedly embrace the Internet, whether we like it or not.

So I entirely agree withDon when he says : “Stag Owners Club, what worked a few years ago may not work now, drag yourselves into the modern world, not just with Internet stuff but what you have to offer new, younger potential membersâ€

For me, I will definitely continue to be a fully paid up member, even though the Forum is virtually the only benefit to me, but I respect and understand the views of others – long may the Stag Owners Club survive

        Cheers

        Julian

I agree also with Julian apart from the Forum I have nothing much else to do with SOC, apart from joining their stand at 2 x shows this summer where I was made most welcome, although I join and pay my subscription each year. Don't get me wrong the forum is great and the vast majority of guy's who use it seem to be a helpful and friendly bunch and their advise and humouris worth way more than the subscription fee.

I have seen various posts explaining the SOCTFL but to be honest it seems to be a bit perplexing having to buy the SOC funded parts from the suppliers, although I may have got this wrong.

I think that a subscription to join and usethe Forumonlymay be an idea, but what would happen to the club part, if it did not receive sufficient funds?? No club, maybe no forum, hope this makes sense??

                  Hi guys,

i recieved the same email yesterday, even though i have been a member since March and it states this on my profile, there was a bit of a mix up, it was dealt with quickly by the admin team and now i'm all sorted.

I dont want to upset anybody, i use the forum everyday reading posts and joining in when i can, in my opinion, it's just my opinion, this is a point of contact that is instant and advice is freely banded about, ideas, improvements, jokes it adds to the club and in this day and age it's all about a little bit of PR. If the club is not sold in the right way, then as people have quite rightly said it will fall behind all the other clubs. The internet is something i use everyday, and so do a lot of younger members, (i'm 46). before i buy parts etc i reasearch them to see whos best and what deal i can get with who, this is why i joined the club forum, the banter and help and just the sheer knowlage base was and is fantastic, so i joined because it was free, even if i was not a member i would still be welcome at the shows i was told, so i then became a member for the shows and that it wasa good feeling to belong, the way it was handled, all via the internet.

i do agree wholeheartedly that to survive the internethas got to be the way to go, if i were in Bussiness, which this is really, you would not survive in this day and age without itso i agree with you guys, you have to give a little to recieve and reap the benifits, if you call a supplier you have a point of contact ( the Phone) all we have is this forum, this is our PHONE, if you take this away ? ? ? ?

please dont beast me over this lads this is MY opinion only and i dont want to start a war and i apolagise now if i have offended anyone.

by the way Julian congrats, i'm still working on it :dude:

Members and non members let your voice be heard by sending an e-mail to forumadmin@stag.org.uk
I am a member but this will probably be my last year of membership. I have renewed my membership purely for the club insurance scheme and valuation. Whilst the magazine has improved it still has excessive ramblings from around the country that do not interest me. Five pages of 'This month on the forum' may be of interest to some but as a forum member I will already have read any that I am interested.
It is time that the committee listened to the voice of the people.

                    Cheers

                    Peter

                      Hi All,

Whilst I agree with some of the points raised by all of you and do not want to ramble on because this is what has spoilt the Forum of late, there are a couple of things I would like to say

                      1) Without being a member of the club I would not have made so many friends with the same interest, mainly the Triumph Stag, with the beer and woman coming in behind Lol

2)The Club started this Forum and has funded this at no extra cost to the members, before someone says you can do it for free, someone has had to put time and development into this.

3)The magazine this was my life line to what was happening around the country with in the Stag community, many shows advertised by the coordinator's which if you so wished you could join them on the club stands, in amongst some of the N&N reports there was some interesting stories, other times not but those without internett access are kept in touch with whats going on.

4)Magazine for FREE:shock:what something for nothing, well with the club Insurance you get free breakdown cover home and abroad, when going over to the Lemans Classic this year two friends of mine had to take out EXTRAcover for the trip which with the RAC and AA, ranged from £38/£80,because they got cheaper insurance somewhere else, soIlook at this as paying formy membership.

As I enjoy using the Forum which the Club startedI for one will continue to be a member
remember you only get out what you put in, LOL

Sorry to hear that others will be leaving but the Club has been going for 31years and will still be going even if a few non member users leave this site.
I do not mean this in a rude way so please do not take offence

                      Regards

                      Steve

Don, we all have choices to make depending upon the perspective we take - you have made your choice, so, just continue to enjoy your Stag, that is the one theme we all tend to share! :dude:

                          Hi Guys

Sorry to read that so many of you have decided to leave the Forum butas a SOC member i intend to go to the AGM in November and make my feelings known there.

                          1. I value the magazine but must agree it can be shorter - more focused on the Car rather than the social side, i understand that there are still a lot of people who do not use the internet on a regular basis but i am sure the local section of the SOC site could be used far more to communicate the Social aspects of the Club.

                          2. The Forum should be the shop window to the club - encourage people to come in and recognise the benifits, which there are, from being a member of the SOC.

                          3. If any other forum members are going to the AGM it would be great if we could make a proposal for discussion at the AGM and try and get it on the Agenda?

I thought the idea was to have a members only section that obviously could only be accessed by SOC member but none members couldpost in other areas? If you're considering buying a Stag how can you ask questions if you can't post?
