Are you sure it's the cap seal Paul? I thought I had the same problem - a petrol smell whenever it was over 1/2 full or I had been cornering with enthusiasm - turned out to be a pin-hole in the side of the tank...

Assume you mean the rubber bung type seal in the fuel cap. All the usual suspects do them. LD Parts have a very fast service. http://www.ldparts.co.uk/shop/shop.p...ccf8bebe471db6

However inclined to Russ' view that if you are smelling petrol it may well be leaking inside the boot. Check the connections and watch out for the little breather hidden at the top end of the filler pipe.

        Hi Paul

If it is the seal in the filler cap it is an M.O.T. failure. As Russ says it could be a pin hole in the tank which can be repaired, you can get a kit called 'Petro patch'. It is also quite often the blanked off small rubber hose on the top of the tank that was intended for American market fuel return pipe that hasperished, fit a new piece of pipe here and bend the end over and secure with a small hose clip.

Check the seals on the fuel pipes coming out of the fuel pump as these go and make the boot stink of petrol.

all you need is 2 fibre washers and a spanner job done!
