    Windscreen fitment

    Hi All

In preparation for its MOT I needed to get the windscreen fitted. A colleague at work who does rallying as a hobby recommended a chap to me for the task.

He came round last Sunday and took away my old freshly cleaned screen, old chrome and new rubber. He pre-assembled the chrome and rubber on to the screen and called back this evening to fit it. It took him and his mate only15 minutes to fit and polish it. SUPERB service.

I can highly recommend him to any of you in the North West who need a classic car windscreen fitting. His name is Rob, based in Stockport and can be contacted on 07788 425513.

    Regards

Pleased you got it sorted Bruce

I have a new rubber and the chrome surround for mine, when I can find someone local to do it as I don't fancy doing it myself. It's currently fitted without the chrome. and the rubber is old and full of sealant!

    One morejob on the list!

On a related topic, does anyone know if you can still buy mark 2 (tinted) brand new windscreens, and a ballpark figure on cost.
      thanks guys,

There is no difference between a Mark and 2 windscreen that I am aware of. I possess one of each and they look identicalapart from the writing in the corner.Pilkington will make any screen you want. Your local Windscreen supplier will be able to order it for you and then all you do is await delivery a few weeks later. That's what we did with our GT6 last year.

The point I was trying to make is that the glass is the same shape so when you ask for a new screen you would simply ask for a "non tinted" or "tinted" Stag screen. If you ask for a Mark 1 or 2 it will simply confuse the manufacturer.

I paid £100 about five years ago for one from Robsport. Made by Pilkingtonwho I believe own the rights to the Triplex brand.
