    Membership Renewal

    Hi All

Just got my membership reminder through the post andI am struggling to decide if to renew or not!

I do not have a Stag at present and will not have one for at least 12 months so only use the forum to help others and chat about Stags so is it worth the £32?

What happens to my forum capability if I do not renew?

Not 100% sure, but I think the new rules would mean that you could only view the posts on the Forum and won't be able to add new ones or reply to others. Having said that I'm not sure you can even open file attachments / photo's if you are going to be a guest only. Need an administrator to confirm this.

Anyway, to the real issue, I remember that you gave me advice and offered me assistance in my early dark days of (what the hell have I done buying this car!) so I would certainly be one that would miss your posts (if I'm right about the effect on your Forum activity).

I know you don't have a Stag at the moment, but £32 to take the p*** out of others, receive the mag, stare at some great avatars and even help others in need, is still pretty good value in my opinion.

Go for it - it's the cost of a night out!

      Hi Stu,

Not sure as yet what happens to your Forum access if you don't renew. Drop Carl a note and ask.

Otherwise, I agree with mattsay. And you never know, you may be able to get that Stag again earlier than you think, and the right one may turn up on here. If you don't renew, you may miss it........

70p odd a week ? go on, do it, if you're still after a Stag it has to be worth keeping up to speed - besides - you'd be missed! Martin.
if we all chip in 1/4p that should cover it.

            Hi Stuart

What happens is the Membership Secretary sends a list of lapsed members each month, and I have to go through all those that are listed under the SOC Members Section, at the moment that's nearly 700 members and anyI find that have lapsed get moved to the read only section. When they renew it will be up to them to notify us so we can check their membership statusand then move them back into the Members section.

            Hope this answers your question.

32 quid, not a lot when you consider a round of drinks in a half decent restaurant could would well come to more than that.

Pay up and may the SOC BE WITH YOU

Anyone who has made more than 3,300 posts on this Forum might find their fingers will drop off from lack of use if they can't keep typing - that's unless you have other uses for them.?

                      Stuart,

I would hope common sense prevails if you chose not to renew, though you would be missing out on the magazine

Can someone explain the different tags on the profiles?

                          I see:

                          SOC Members
                          International Members
                          SOC: Member

                          in various positions.

What is an "International Member"? Is this an expat or a Member of a foreign Stag Club?

Is "SOC Members" different from "SOC: Member" ?

                          Drew

                          (expat international SOC member )

                            Hi Drew

                            If under the Avitar.

You see SOC Member these are members we have been able to identify as current SOCmembers

If it just says Member these are people that we have not been able to identify as current members, and the main reason for that is they have not put enough details in their application so we can check ie: Their name, Address or at least post code or membership number................That is why Carl sent out the Mail asking everybody to update their details, so we could check against the datebase. At this moment there are. 697 SOC members...................344 that are members these are people who have not updated their details so we cant check if they are current members.

International these are members of one of the other Stag Clubs....But we will be asking for some form of proof that they are members.

At the end of this month those that have not been identified as SOC members will be moved to a read only section until they update their details so we can check they are current members, once they have been confirmed as SOC members they will then be moved back to the SOC members section.

Hope this clears it up for you.

                              Thanks Roger.

So if I were to be, say, a member of the Triumph Stag Club Deutschland (TSCD) and not a member of the SOC, what are my Forum read/write permissions?

Andrew S said some time back that, in view of the low value of the "rest" of the SOC, use of the forum would be free for overseas members. Can't quite work that one out, as if I am an "overseas SOC Member" then I get forum use anyway.

Is it meant that overseas users of the forum will be able to continue to read/write irrespective of their SOC Membership?

                              Drew
