    Thanks Dieter. Yes, it's in pretty good condition and didn't take much cleaning. It's back on the car now so fingers crossedit will not cut out when it shouldn't do!

      thanks guys, I've got mine out too as refurbing the bulkhead with new pad etc.I was wondering how you got the knob off now I know cus it's come off easy.next job is clutch cylinder and brake servo/cylinder off,think I'll reseal them whilst they'r off the car should I refill with silicone or mineral fluid ?

        You might want to rethink the brake master cylinder for a reseal,I think most would agree that the repair kits don't work very often due to the bore being worn and you are better of with a new one for about £130.If yours is ok I would leave it alone.

          yes I did wonder about that,think I will keep some fluid in them as much as possible to avoid them drying out/shrinking/cracking or some other variation of screwing me around when I come to refit.

            Hiya, you know what they say - if it ain't busted - - -. I would stick to conventional fluid for all its disadvantages, Silicone can leave you with a spongy pedal that won't bleed out. Some have had success with it, but mostly it leaves you with less efficient brakes. Martin.
