is it a different shape, or just the holes for the fittings / connections to the seat back? could you "fettle" one to fit? Or could I just swap the cover and foams between the 2?Comment

thanks - can I take a rain check until I've had a fiddle around - it must be possible to swap over in some way - my drivers seat base has some splits (not sure if the foam is ok until I remove it) - it must be possible to put a passanger seat base cover on it? surely it must be the same shape, and the holes be in the right places....Comment

You could fettle the foam to swap over but not the cover as the shape is different and holes in different places.Comment

Hi Alistair,
I thought that I could swap them over at first and, of course, ultimately anything's possible, however I think you'll find more differences then you realise. In the end I gave up and managed to get a pretty good second hand one.
Unfortunately, for me, I'd gone to the trouble of completely cleaning up and painting one of my metal bases before deciding to give up and use the second handseat complete!! - so, if you change your mind, there's a 50/50 chance (can't remember if it's driver's or passengers) that I could let you havea base thatlooks almost as good as new
Luckily, dismantling the base is fairly easy. I found the only significant problem was that the little trim straps underneath) that you pull to give you the recess between the basketweave section and the front) had all gone brittle and broken.
Anyway, good luck but if I can help at all - having only recently done the job - then please feel free to ask.

oh d*mn - I've just bought a passenger seat base with cover to use to replace the driver base and cover. So I'm snookered am I?
Julian, would be grateful if you could check if you have either a good black seat base cover or complete base.................
So if anyone needs a passenger base & cover in black....
That will teach me to ask first!
