    4 speed Auto

Dropped my car of with Clive Tate yesterday to get a 4sp Auto box fitted, what a nice guy - hope to pick it up next weekend can't wait for the drive home.

Anyone experienced any problems i should look out for beforei test it out?

make sure you roadtest it to check the full throttle shifts are smooth before paying your money. He gave mine back to me with the box not right which I didn't discover until the next day, but because of the distance I live from him and my hate of public transport, and losing the car for another week, I didn't take it back...... wish I had now, as it should never have been given back to me - wondered why he didn't let me drive it from the station when I went to pick it up.....

No. The only option to get it fixed was to take it back at my expense and time - have now got a replacement valve block courtesy of Adie, which I'll fit when I have spare time.

Adie should be updating his website soon with his conversion last time I looked.

I have done a couple of these conversions for customers, and have to say that its worth the expense.I make one modification,i find the linkage between the gearbox and the shift linkage is a bit "springy" and can lead to a sticky movement from park to reverse, and sometimes through the gears,i find the bent threaded rod used not strong enough and i reinforce the linkage by triangulating this part,by welding another rod to the linkage and it seems to help.
Apart from that Clive Tate's conversion seems well thought out and really makes the auto stag the car it should have been.
            For info my car's manual.

Just picked up my car from Clive today - what a differenceit's like having Nigel Havers changing gears (Smooth - unobtrusive and very quiet) over the old Arthur Mullard of a BW65.

For thosee who don't know Arthur here's a link
