I am finally putting the second pair of speakers in theTrevortommorow and have this recollection of the speaker wiring being different (the wire with the vein being connected to the negative) to how I have put things in, in the past but I am not 100% about this... Apart from taking the dash bits out to check, it is possible tocheck the polarity of the wiring with a multi-meter?

Here's the definitive answer, although it's no credit to me - apart from having torn it out of a mag
When Ireplaced my unit a while ago I was never sure if I had got this right or not. Then, in the August issue of Classics Monthly, they gave the answer - although thisremainsone of the many jobs still on my 'to-do' list:
"Connect the wires to the speaker, and then touch the other ends on to the positive and negative terminals of an AA battery. If the polarity at the speakers is correct, the speaker cone will expand outwards, if it's not, it'll 'suck' itself in."
Cheers

grahamb wrote:Thanks Julian. I will try that. If a dc battery does that, then sound played from the amp should also give varying degrees of voltage as well, so will also check with the meter.
I'll be interested to hear what you find as I'm going to be doing the same thing sometime before, hopefully, too long.
Cheers

I've read that before, but only good from the head unit end, not the speaker end...
