do you have to prime the washer pump?

After filling the washer bottle with fluid for the first time this evening I discovered the external pump is not pumpingIts making lots of noise but not sucking any fluid. The pipes are on the correct way round. Does it requrie priming or is it simply knackered? Its not an original top mounted pump.

certainly helps to prime them bruce if its been dry a good while .you might want to check youve got a non return valve in the line from pump to save this hassle in the future.

What about the wires Bruce, it might be sucking rather than blowing:shock:

Mine is a modern copy of the original, it wouldn't do anything until I had primed it. (Screen wash doesn't taste too good!):shock:

Swapping the wires over did the trickWasher fluidjetting nicely onto the windscreen now

I am kicking myself for not thinking of that. I remembered to check the orientation of thepipes but not the wires. DOH:?
