My Stag is taking a long time to warm up and is running cool, so I suspect that the thermostat is faulty. I have a very late MK2 Stag and the ROM staes 82deg., but LD seem to reccomend 88 deg. Which one should I go for?
There is no need to change to a different temperature as the seasons change. The thermostat only controls the temperature at which the coolant is admitted to the radiator. The engine temperature depends on how much heat is generated by the engine and how much is taken away by the radiator. Fitting an 88deg stat is good in the winter, as it keeps the engine working around its ideal temperature.
