Short of loosening a cylinder head (and all that then entails) has anybody a suggestion of how to re-fit an inlet manifold that is refuses to align with both sets of cylinder head tappings at the same time?:X

Tried drilling out the holes in the inlet manifold to 3/8" from 5/16"?
This gives you a little bit more leaway.

Go and buy a polyurethene sealer such as 'tiger seal'...... for a really nice job, buy the stainless manifold bolt kit from ccs fasteners.
Drill the bolt holes in the manifold as already suggested; do be prepared to helicoil the head threads if they are weak / stripped.
Use the polyurethene sealer sparingly as its a 'structural sealer'
This has worked first time every time.
The manifold will be difficult to remove after using this method due to the sealer being structural.....but not impossible.

When i got a new (good second hand) inlet manifold not surprisingly it didn't align withmy heads so what I did wasbolt it on loose with no gaskets and feeler gauge the gap ,then measured the gaskets which were 20 thou bigger than the gap soI had 15 thou taken of the inlet manifold faces, and also opened out the bolt holes a bit.fitted easily after that, even if I was annoyed that I had to take so much off a really good manifold.
And used Stag wellseal of coarse
,and as mentioned helicoiled all the threads and fitted the SS bolt set.
Cheers Steve

Yes just fittedmyinlet manifold today after a water pump change
. I cleaned all the faces and used loctite 518 as a flange sealant, it retained the gaskets on the heads nicely and i dropped the manifold into place with no probs
, holes were already drillled out to 10mm so no probs there . the previous fitter had used loads of silicone sealant which had blocked up the manifold coolant galleries, with them unblockednow the engine seems to run even cooler still
