Adhesives ?

After refurbing hard top I only have front chrome strip to attach. Dont want to drill hard top so want to stick it on ! I did have some suggestions which I have now forgotten butcan anyone recommend a suitable adhesive, guess it nust have some gap filling qualities for a good fit ?

Any suggestions welcome.

not sure if this is a good idea? I have just been sorting out my hardtop and the previous owner had glued the stainless trims on with Araldite they had all fallen off as it just pulled the paint off but it stuck to the trims like you know what and I had a awful job getting it off.- Just thought I would mention it.

The fasteners for this trim are plastic. Drill the holes, fit the plastic fittings after dipping them in wayoyl or similar. When the s/steel trim is fitted, seal it with suitable body mastic so that no water can get inside. This is how I did mine several years ago and it is still fine.

Thanks for advice both. Just dont fancy drilling thats all in case I balls it up ! Is spcing of the holes critical ? How do you ensure you get in a straight line so trim is not wonky ? If process could be explained then it may help !

Hi Spurs

Suggestion (not tried): Why not stick on some tape across the front; the lay over the chrome strip and mark lines top and bottom; then remove chrome, and mark between centres of the lines for the drill centres. Space clips approx ever 10 to 15cm.

Yes tape may be good idea. Will have a go and see what happens !
