Changing seats and upholstry

Hi all, this is my first post and probably a premature question as the restoration is not at this stage yet, but anyway...

I was wondering if anyone knows if any modern seats will fit in the stag that might give a slightly sportier feel? Or is this type of mod looked down on?

I was thinking of colour change too - I saw one in grey leather in sept 2003 Practical Classics which looked great but there weren't many pictures - don't suppose any knows whos car it was?

Be great to hear some views on this.

Thanks, plenty of info there. Yours look really nice and I saw your earlier posts about them. Like the half leather. Did you just redo the existing rear seat?

Do you know what car they are from and do you have any templates for the brackets?

The rear seat is simply retrimmed using the identical fabric the front seats are trimmed in.
The front seats are Recaro's, from their aftermarket range, hence why I was able to buy the correct matching cloth and (imitation) leather from them...not cheap though!
Adapter brackets all depend on the seat runner you have/or buy. Recaro's all have the same bolt pitch underneath the seat, but the seat runners can be different for bolting into the car requiring a slighty different adapter bracket to pick up the Stag's original hole centres. Not difficult to fabricate though.

Hi Rob

I'm in the process of putting Jag XJS seats in mine..... Done the passenger one looks nice as they are not too thick or wide....... Some of the guys have used Rover coupe or tomcat seats, but I think they look a bit big for the car, but only my opinion.

I think also people have toyed with the Alfa Romeo seats.

Hi Rob,
Just fitted Fiat Coupe black leather seats as per pictures posted by xfSTag, whose idea it was to go with these.
£60 from a local Fiat dismantler, and £40 for a Gliptone kit to refresh them. They look the mutts nuts, and are oooh so comfortable.
They come up fairly regularly on Fleabay.

I'm not ready to do the job yet, but at least I can be looking out for some good ones. Got any pictures of yours? I know what you mean about some looking bulky, the stag ones do look pretty numb though.
