Mountney steering wheel boss

Evening All,

A little while ago I fitted a mountney steering wheel I got off ebay, and a boss from ebay as well.

I don't really like the boss as it looks ugly and brings the steering wheel further away from the column.

Are there are any other bosses that will fit, and where can I get one from?

Hey Al - i think Steve mentioned that there were some universal ones you could get from Halfords that did the job and were reasonably priced.

You are great at hunting out old threads - you'll find it quicker than me !

Hi Al.
I had the same problem as you,the mountney boss was too long in my opinion.
I got around it by getting a piece of 10mm plate turned to the correct diameter ,then counter bored it and bolted it to the original Stag boss.Then tapped threads to take the Mountney screws.You will need a bit of filler in the gaps where the original spokes were let into the boss then a squirt of satin black paint.

I know,I need to get cleaning before anyone mentions it

MB 066 dont think it is much shorter than yours thoughAl ,why don't you push the steering column in to the dash a bit more

It's that bit of corrugated rubber I dont like - it's hollow underneath.

I take it the Halfords one does not look like that then?

Hi Guys yes you can get a boss to fit from mountney that works. This one on flea bay fittted mine perfect. 320611817390Being also universal no need to drill any exra holes
