    Windscreen Rubber

When I had my windscreen surround rain gutters repaired a couple of years ago I bought a new screen rubber from Paddocks and it fitted fine. Just had my car repainted and same body shop guy is saying the new rubber Ive bought from Paddocks is not as good as the previous one and hes struggling to get it to fit. Anyone else had a problem can anybodyrecommended an alternative supplier?

      Hello,

We just fitted a new windscreen rubber and found that it either had shrunk or was too short to start with. So we "lengthened" it by stretching it overnight. Then it fitted.

The other issue was the stainless steel frame that was supposed to go on this rubber. We made the effort of building that special tool as mentioned in the manual. But still it was quite a task to get that frame on.

      Good luck, Dieter.

The Paddocks rubber was obviously too short so I bought one from Rimmers, it fits but again its too short and the chrome surround has popped off as there is not enoughrubber where it goes into the corners. Now Ive got to cut out this new rubber as we darent try to force it out with the screen in case the screen breaks. So thats over £60 Ive spent on windscreen rubbers that dont fit:X. Will be having words with Rimmers at the NEC tomorrow.

Thing is I bought one from Paddocks two years ago and it fitted a treat, so where to go now. has anyone bought a windscreen rubber recently that fits and where from?

I bought mine from Paddocks a few months back. Yes it was very tight:shock:. The screen fitter took it away, warmed it up in a bucket of hot water and then spent a good hour with his mate stretching it before it would fit to the screen. Just be very careful that you don't pull it across the seam otherwise it might come apart.

They then bonded the rubber to the screen before fitting the chrome.

          Nice snug fit now though

          Good luck

Ditto! Did it myself, a real struggle but don't you feel good once it's done.

Thanks for the info, what did they use to bond the rubber to the screen?
