Can you adjust the window frame?Huge gap!!

On my drivers door theres a big gap between car and window frame and the result is that my ear and head are freezing!! Only noticed it earlier as driving in Liverpool and the wind was whipping round my ear and head, the hole is about 3/4 of an inch at its widest.

If I open the window and grab the frame it closes the gap so I wonder whether if I take the door card off if theres something I can adjust to bring the chrome window frame in a little to close the gap?

Its getting a bit too nippy to have wind in my lug hole!!

    Hi

Does your car have the A post "P shaped" rubber seals fitted? They locate between the door chrome window surround and the Windscreen/A post section of the bodyshell.

just braved the arctic conditions outside to check and yes it has

        what does that mean?

Simon the biggest gap is at the other end, top corner.

I;ve noticed that the part of the hood frame that touches the top of the window sags in the middle but I don;t know how that effects the chrome frame

There are bolts on the A-pillar that the door bolts to - these allow adjustment in all planes.

There are also bolts in the door *behind* the door-trim that allow some minimal adjustment.

You should be able to get some adjustment back. Plus after doing that, your door striker will also no doubt be out of kilter, so that can be adjusted in all planes too (the striker on the B-pillar, not the lock mechanism in the door itself).

Really frustrating trying to get all the various adjustments done

Before adjusting the actually door...which you don't want to do anyway if the door is flush with the body shell...as stated have a go with the adjustment inside the door.

With the door trim off you should notice the setscrews down the sides of the stainless steel window frame. The problem maybe that these adjustments might have broken off, these consistof nuts on folded brackets welded onto the stainless frame.

When I restored my own car and had the window frame out, I have to repair most of them.

                    Hi

What ever you do DO NOT UNDO the bolts which hold the door on ! You will severely muck up the panel gaps.

At the edge of each door ...ie the shutting surface ,you will find two large grommets.Beneath these are nuts which attach the window frame to the door on the B post end .You will also find another boltat the hinge end of the door around about the area just beneath thedoor catch mechanism.

The window angle in relation to the rubbers on the soft top and A post can be adjusted by undoing these (loosely). When the angle is correct simply re-tighten and replace door card.

                    Hope this helps
