    oil leaks and rooflining

As a regular reader of the forum, firstly need to thank all contributors as many of my niggles are sorted via other peoples questions and solutions.
My current Questions for my MK1 manualoverdrive 1971 are as follows:

Having just received the Tony Hart service video for a birthday gift,he mentions the oil pump housing as a source of regular oil leaks, how difficult /easy is this to remove and refit new seals ,as on my quest to sort all oil leaks it would be helful to replace seals if this is not too hard.

By the way does anyone have a list of all regular oil leaks and fixes ,ie the most common places.

Obviously if some of these are engine out job then may have to wait.

I have certainly made good progress from cam covers down but still get oil forming around the clutch slave ,where the bleed nip[ple is although no leaks from clutch itself.I know that oil leaks and ends up in many different places ie,runs down, its just trying to track the origin. The cam covers and dip stick do not leek

Also around gear box,to which I understand there is a breather on top I think ,but cant see how to access this?

Also was there ever a list compiled other interchangable spare parts,ie form other car types Land rover, etc,I know some Jaguar parts crossover, a bonus if less expensive!

Lastly can anyone recommend a good product for cleaning the hardtop roof lining.
    Thanks in anticipation
    Mark

    hi

don't tighten the cam covers too hard this splays them out and sometimes makes a leak worse, the rear half moons perish and leak oil down the back of the block and on tothe starter. this does save on underseal!

maverick, does your oil leak after you stop after a run, if this is the case it could be a rear crank oil seal.A pain.

Another place where they are prone is the oil transfer housing seals or the oil pressure switch which screws into the housing itself.Akward but is accessable.

        Hi Mark,
The gearbox breather is at the front end of the remote cover and is little more than a pin hole. I've never tried to reach it with the 'box in the car but I think it could be difficult. You may be able to reach it through the inspection plate in the passengerside of the transmission tunnel. Not sure if there is one on the overdrive.
