    Bellhousing bolts - thanks

Thanks to every one who's posted in the past about these bolts, with a bit of searching the forum I've been able to work out that, in fact, the bellhousing bolts should NOT all be the same diameter as they are on my car:X. Though the clutch wasn't juddering or anything like that, the main reason for removing the box is to fix what I think is a knackered front oil seal - the run of six month old oil inside the bellhousing tends to confirm this!

Also found that whoever installed the gearbox and converted from auto did have the right crossmember for the J-type overdrive box, they just put it in back to front which meant they had to cut a semi-circle from the sidewall of the crossmember to clear the solenoid:shock:and that the gearbox mounts weren't aligned. Surely it's much easier to fit things properly?

Just pulled the bush out from the end of the crank, where the gearbox input has been out of line the bush inner face looks like someone has tried to drill it out with the drill at an angle. There's a step halfway down the bush to one side and diametricly opposite at the gearbox end of the bush the end face is only about half a millmetre deep:shock:.

I guess this eccentric load on the gearbox shaft is what's caused the oil seal to leak.
