I feel your frustration. I bought my stag when I was 19 and then discovered I couldn't afford to insure it, that was 16 years ago. The only sensible thing to do back then was spend he next two years restoring it so that when it was finished I'd be 21 and insurance would be more bearable.

Lancaster were veryreasonable as my first insurer, but I had to put up with a 1500 mile limit for the first season, and I think that was only a 6 month policy.

It's likewine, itonly improves with age.

A close family friend has a Renault 4 that he has had for decades, he's never had a claim or speeding ticket, andhis comprehensive insurance for that car is £25 for the year.:?

Re Quinn insurance we got caught by that a great quote when he was a learner, I phoned them when he had passed to ask if pass plus would help and by what percentage and was told I needed to pay another £600 and as I had agreed to pay his insurance if he bought the car, I was the one who was caught out!!

Snap ,had to stump up another £360 when my daughter passed her test with Quinn on top of the initial £600,she will be going else where at renewel time.I reckon they do all thier business on a single first year basis.

If you transfer ownership to one of your parents get them to insure it, get yourself fully comp insurance on another car, cheap little run around and thendrive the Stag under the terms that you can drive another car not belonging to you as long as you have the owners permision.

Think this will only give you third party cover when driving the Stag, so don't prang it

Now I will wait for the..........

Did my search on compare the market and guess what? the cheapest quote came in at £323 but strangely its with admiral the company i am already with and have sent me a renewal of £500. They have honoured the internet quote after a phone call but why try to rip me off in the first place?

Just out of interest i asked them for a quote for putting my nearly 17 year old on as a named driver with provisional licence. Lucky i was sitting down, £1923 extra:shock:
