Have owned the Stag for 5 months now - doesnt time fly?
I am using it daily, and shortly after I bought the car, I noticed a kind of wheezy noise when on overrun. Got used to it, and it didnt seem to be getting any worse, so didnt bother to meddle. Not sure whether it is connected, but I now have another noise.
Over last 2 months, I now have a bit of a farty noise (am I allowed to use such language on the SOC forum?) when using more than a very small amount of throttle. It sounds a bit like an exhaust blow.
I have listened to the engine, and on tickover it is a little tappetty, but not too noisy. When I rev the motor, it doesnt sound any worse, and I can not find any evidence of an exhaust blow. But it does sound quite noisy from inside the car.
I am convinced that it is coming from a leaky join or maybe a blowing exhaust gasket or even a cracked downpipe or something, but I just cant find it.
Anyone got any tips on how to trace the noise if it is coming from the exhaust somewhere?
Thanks.
