    Original Stag Drawings

I have just been watching John Clancy's latest DVD - Classic TR's and it got me thinking again!

What I am curious is whether any of the original production drawings for the Stag exist. I think it would be very interesting to have sight of these and publish some of them on the website, or in the magazine.

On the flip side it would make an intersting (very) long term SOC project to 'CAD up' the original drawings - if they exist; to build up a future resource to keep the Stag going into the distant future.

    Any thoughts?

    Rgds

Derek Athey is the club keeper of the archives. You should read your Mag. details page 2, where would we be without it?

I am sure I remember from one of the SOCTFL AGMs that it was believed that BMIHT did have some drawings but getting them to find and release them was something of abrick wall.

They will not release them due to product liability fears following problems they had in the US. Begs the question 'why they bother to store them if no one can look at them'

Here's a PDF of the machining profile of the exposed bright work, accurate? As close as the limited measuring equipment available to me would permit. No liability accepted. Apologises for the metric figures but the imperial dimensions seemed just as daft!
I submitted the drawing to the machinist who skimmed my wheels, whether he used them, or chose to use his own judgement, I'll never know, the results looked fine.

It's a long story, however 'An offer I couldn't refuse' meant I was able to acquire and fit a set of wires, but, I still have the alloys greased up and in safe storage ready to swap back should the need arise.

Interestingly they are available to view and take dimension's from

read Mike Fisher's report for SOCTFL on cylinder heads

O I forgot most of you do not read your magazines:P

I skipped a set of ropey Stag Alloys recently, I could have (Somehow!) cut one in half and measured that. Too Late now sadly.

You could take a brick wall down.

BMIHT's attitude towards drawings and their use is a disgrace..... shame on you 'Heritage' People.

Most of the 'no you can't copy a drawing' people there have used the archives to publish books in their own names .....oh dont get me started!
