It's Finally done and virtually fitted first time (just as well after all the work that went in to it) I have one question though, the gap at the front at the top of the screen seems a little big (a good 1/2") although it is compressing the seal and you cant feel any wind blowing through when driving. is there any way to get the front catches to pull it down tighter! It has the correct type of pins (the domed ones) but they don't seem to put it under much tension. Any Idea's anyone!

That looks cracking Ian.

When you bought it yousaid it was in pretty good nick and the best you had seen, so hhat did you have to do to it?

Paint it and new lining I guess but anything else?

Hi Ian, Headlining is 99 % so just cleaned it. Prep and painting has been a nightmare (reaction) still has a little but unless I point it out you wouldn't know. I had to do a bit of a tidy up job on the lower inertia trim which I painted matt black. looks OK, also getting the chrome back on was a Bu**er. I must say though I'm quite pleased with it and it hasn't cost more than £300 in total, that's buying it and painting and new Zig Zags.

You could try fitting some new brass fitments , ( the hole the pins lock into ) they are fixed with 2 screws , the hardest job is removeing the chrome strip on top of the windowscreen frame , I replaced mine this year, and they made a big differance with the fit of the soft top no more wind noise ,

Thanks for the info John.

I had thought of that but my soft top fit's very well so I'm not sure that's the answer but I may try it. I'll have to see if it lets water in in the rain I suppose, then decide if I need to do any more to it or leave it with the gap. I think I need to look at a couple of other cars and see what sort of gap they have. Anyone got a picture please.

Had a wonderful day, and strangely, I hardly spent anything, however, that may change after talking to John about those lights. A good show this year, massive autojumble and the most astonishing Bristol 402 that had belonged to Jean Simmons, bought for her by Stewart Granger. Oops - hijacking the subject - sorry. :shock: Martin.
