    Minilite Alloys

    Hi Guys

Help wanted - considering either refurbishing my original alloys or getting a set of Minilites :?

Been looking at 15" x 5.5 PCD 114 with a 20mm offset :?would these be OK and what would be the best tyres?

I am not sure, but I think the cost to refurbish an old alloy is around £75 (Can someone confirm this?) and brand new Stag Alloys are £90. On that basis I went the route of buying 4 new Stag Alloys and kept the best of the old ones as a spare. The bonus is they are freshly machined and should have the centre hole in the centre so should be easy to balance properly. The Repro ones now have the valve in the correct position (Well the ones that I bought from Wards have) so it is impossible to tell them apart from the originals.

    (Minilites look cool though!)

    Rgds

I opted for 15" Minilites, bought from Midland Wheels at the Feb Stoneleigh Triumph show price - at the time, they worked out cheaper than refurbing my originals.

I prefer the look of the 15" Minilites, and also the wide choice of tyres available rather than the limited choice of the 14" rims

Hi, I went for the genuine Minilites with a 15" rim, the tyre size is 205/65VR15 which I think is perfect for the car, lots of wheel on show with semi low profile tryes.

          Hi David

They do look nice - what was the offset distance? as far as i understand the original stag alloys are 28mm the one's i have seen are 15mm so not sure if they will be OK

          Regards

Quite a few on here have bought these: http://www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-...--4x114.3.html

The offset quoted is ET14. 195/65 x 15" tyres fit without problem and I think 205/65 may be OK, but personally I haven't seen them in use on these wheels.

I bought a second hand set of minilites with good tyres from Chris. The old alloys were then sold for £100 meaning I got the wheels and newer tyres for £50
              Happy days

I would recommend the coloured ones.

                Gary,

I am not sure of the offset, I spoke directly to Minilite and they advised on the correct wheel, their phone number is 01952 620215.

I think someone else mentioned the 15" wheel gives you more tyre choice, these 205/65 tyres were a budget brand and cost £158 for the 4

                  Dave,

The offset quoted on my wheels were ET20 and I am using 205/65 tyres with no problems at all, the car handles better on a wider tyre.

                    Hi Gary

I have Minilite replicas with Goodyear 195/65 x 15 tyres on mine and I am very pleased with them. I don't know the offset though I'm afraid!

For those who don't know these wheels are manufactured in Telford, Shropshire and they are very nice people.

                        Hi Brian

Love the wheels - great to see them on the same colour car as mine, Think my mind is made up Minilite it is.

Although the next decision is do i go with machined rims or just plain:?
