The 944 was a Porsche from the ground up, the engine being a Porsche designed 2.5 litre OHC 4 pot with a ladder racing crankcase, two Lanchester balance shafts and trans on the back axle, this grew to 2.7 litres, then in the S2 to 3 litres with twin cams, the Turbo having 250bhp. The 924 was designed by Porsche for VW who decided they couldn't afford it, so Porsche marketed it under their own banner, that's where the VW rumour started. Sorry mate, but you did rather ask for that Martin.

Stag all the way for me too, but I can't help admiring superior engineering, and it does have style. Martin.
