The MGB is close to life again......

Following it's close encounter with some road furniture, and a large amount of money being spent following the insurance company writing it off, we're getting close....

Should get it back next week, then I can fit the EPAS steering system and get it back on the road - it will be one MG that WILL wave back

    from this

    through these

Looks like it's coming along nicely mate but it's a bit of a drive for me just to be able to say "I waved to an MG driver and they waved back". Can you not arrange for the more local to me owners to become a little more mature?

I've been waiting for a mate of mine to get his late "B" back on the road and after 17 years he actually came and borrowed an engine hoist from me this week so maybe it will see the light of day next year!

      Ha Ha

MAYBE I could persuade the wife to drive it a bit nearer to you Adie.... wouldn't want you to go to your maker without having an MG wave to you

This is one of those unusual 'B's in that it has a factory fit BW35 - according to a lot I've read, the factory stopped fitting them to roadsters in 71, but this is an Oct 72 build.

Looking at it though, and remembering when I rebuilt it on a Heritage shell in 96 things are very tight down the tunnel, and I'm not sure that I could get a decent ZF tranny in it..... luckily the Borgy is still behaving itself fine and has had no rebuild since it was new - the car has been in the family for 35 years, and now the father-in-law can no longer drive, it's becoming the wife's toy - but only after I've done my £50 power steering conversion as I prefer my women without biceps the size of Bournemouth.....:P

I had an mgb gt for a couple of years as a run around
restored with new shell in 1997 by mg garage workshops
owner at the time spent £7500 on the work

          great little run around
and I waved at mgb owners and triumph cars
had the tr6 as well as the stag then
now downsized to just the stag

                Thanks Steve

It was originally white, but when I shelled it in 96 Tartan red seemed to be the way to go.....although a great idea at the time, it turns out that the pigments in red paint deteriorate more rapidly, so I've had to have the whole car painted to get a match to the repairs. Looks nice now though

All that said though, my pal Tim at Nottingham Coachcraft in Caterham has done a fantastic job on the car, at a decent price, and over-ordered the paint so I have plenty of colour matched spare..... good old Tim.

Absolutely Alan, as this is the MG owners club......

Yes I will mate, but I will need to tidy the interior up a bit first (or maybe not depending on the mood) as it has always lived outside and damp has got at the dash veneer and door cards etc. I've still got to find a decent rad grille, as the original recessed one was utterly cattled and it seems they are unobtainable now (or £300+)

And if it's good enough for Stormin' Norman....hee hee

Your GT by the way was an absolute gem - a credit to a REAL mechanic

Right..... now time to head into the kitchen, as I have my fireman pal (and the PO of my Vitesse) and his family over to dinner today, and lots to do..... 11lb lump of prime beef to roast.... yummy!! (he eats like a bloody horse)

                    Russ

Excellent job! I had a roadster for a while and it was great fun, especially on country A roads, and with no power steering and no brake servo it was a great workout!
