How to change fuel filter?

    How to change fuel filter?

    Is it as simple as undoing the brackets at each end of the existing filter and attaching the new one or is there risk of air getting in etc?

    As my car is running rough I bought a new one as they are so cheap and a new air filter before I progress to other things

      you got it Simon, undo pull off and replace. dont forget to wipe up any spills though. turn the ignition on and off a couple of times for the pump to build the pressure back up then fire her up and let her tick over for a couple of minutes

              Hi Simon, just a brief point, try and avoid the very cheap fuel filters, with some of them, the paper breaks up and can block the needle valves, watch the colour, if they start to turn brown fairly quickly, get rid. Martin.

                Just one point make sure you fit it the right way round, there should be an arrow showing direction of flow.

                  ...That's how it starts - you pick up a screwdriver, then a spanner, then a socket set... and before you know it you're at torque wrenches, axle stands, engine hoists, dial gauges...etc

                        You sound like a man who talks with experience!!!

                        The old filter was a bugger to get off, the freezing temps made the hoses a bugger to get off but it still runs!! the old filter had black crud in it

                          Have you let your fuel level get very low?

                          I would be tempted to remove your fuel tank and flush out all the crap that must be in there.
