By far one of the best things iv'e had on a car is electric front heated screen ,clears it in seconds .would have thought it would be standard on new cars by now.

I think Ford own the patent for this and won't let other car manufacturer's use it yet, it is great though, but with Global warming you won't need it in a couple of years anyway!

Thats correct - Fords owns the patent, i think Jaguars also have this due to their Ford links.

Best part of my '96 Mondeo was the heated front screen !

It is the only thing I miss from my old Mondeos. They are now appearing on Jaguars and Volvos due the Ford ownership.

Unfortunately it's a Ford patent, so you're only likely to get it on Fords. It's good though, except for days when the sun is straight ahead and very low when you get a nice zig-zag effect that can be a bit distracting.

It is actually an offence -thats driving with restricted visibility, not having a Chelsea Tractor, but Traffic Police would be too busy spying on people from vans or emptying speed cameras to notice.

Whats the difference between a Chelsea Tractor & a hedgehog. A hedgehog has all the pricks on the outside.

My dads Range Rover (mid 90's)has it, part ofFord I quess.

Caterham use it though, and you can now buy an aftermarket replacement screen for the Lotus Elise that has it too.

I had mondeos with a heated screen and being short sighted it was a bit of a pain as my eyes always wanted to focus on it.

Its not just stupid, its being BONE IDLE. Perhaps the au-pair (check spelling?) is on holiday and no one to clean the screen for them!!:shock:

I feel sorry for them actually, a brand new car and having to clear the screen!! no, no this will never do old boy!

I just know of too many cyclists killed by beieng hit up the rear, its not a pleasent sight.
