    hi guys,

do i fit the seal to the top then glaze or do i fit the seal to the glass then fit to the top, it looks eaiser to fit the sealto the glass then to the top ?

hope you are on here julian, its the lastpiece now so thenit's all finished and i can fit it apart from the trim i need

oh the head lining fitted like a glove too so i presume they must have changed it a little

Never done a hard top screen but have put a few car windows in, in the past.

I would put the rubber on the glass a some cord in the grove and lubricate it with some washing up liquid. get someone to apply a bit of pressure on the outside as you pull the cord out from the inside and the rubber should just lip over as you go round. They call it roping in I believe.

          Nice one Alan.

Need to sort out the sealing of the front edge on mine. going to change the catch plates first which is annoying as I had the screen capping off before last Christmas when the car was painted and spent ages sealing it all neatly.

It's true what they all say though, it's like having a different car when you first fit it

sorry Simon, i have readyour thread about the sealing of yours, i never acknowlaged what you said eailer so i do apolagise.

i dont know if this will help but the cactch on the rear of the top is adjustable, i have stripped mine to clean it up.when i took it off,i noticed that there is a slot for a screwdriver in the end and a locking nut inside the spring also. i suppose they knew they were not a 'standard fit' so a little adjustment is possible there, i guess thats why some of the guys have had trouble with the rear seating of the tops, too tight, and they need screwing out or into fit the 'car'. as they say.

i just hope mine fits well i have replaced everything on the top, stripped bare, sprayed then complete refurb, and the dreaded wax injected with Bilt Hambler injection wax, man that was messy :shock:andhave beenlucky enough to have the tinted glass too.

                alan

when i fitted mine i fitted glass to rubber and then fitted hole thing to hard top with rope or string round rubber to pull rubber seal in

                  Hi Alan,

I've only just got home and seen your post - sorry I wasn't here to help but glad Ian did and that it seems to have all gone ok

Have you fitted the chrome trim into the rear screen surround yet? If not, I hope that goes easier for you than it did for me :X

I reckon it's like Ian says - it feels like a different car with the hardtop !

                  Cheers

                  Julan

Hi Guys thanks for the responses. all done with garden twine would you believe

                    worked a treat.

Hi Julian, all done now bar the trim, its off to work with me in the morning so the guys can put it on the linnisher. then the polisher. i'm still short the bottom edge and one side, the rear window bottom, i'm sure i had one but its gone walk about :shock:so i will add them as i get them.

will let you know about the trim tomorrow if i fit it when i get back from work.

well gents i cant wait to fit it, my hood is dry, just really cold do you think it would be ok to stow it ?

                      Hi Alan,

When I did my hardtop I really struggled to get the rear window chrome surround in at first. This was my plea for help (towards the bottom of this post): http://stagownersclub.mywowbb.com/vi...o=91236#p91236

With some help from others on here you'll see that I managed itand I hope it goes ok for you. You will however need the bottom bit, which is held in by two screws, to retain the two side pieces.

As for folding your hood, unless it is actually frozen, I wouldn't have though it would be a problem as long as you are very careful about folding it. Having said that, how about using a hairdryer to gently warm it a little?

                      Good luck, cheers

                      Julian
