    Rear wheel bearing replacement

Does anyone know of a firm who can strip the rear shafts and replace the outer wheel bearings ? The inner ones look relatively easy but the ones in question need the correct Leyland/Triumph tools which I imagine are quite scarce.

Rimmers do a whole replacement for around £275.00 for a pair, exchange but someone may know a cheaper route.........do you ?

a lot cheaper approach would be to buy a serviceable driveshaft 2nd hand. Make sure it is the later type with serviceable UJ's and not the sealed for life jobbies.

Split the hub from the driveshaft on both old and new and pair up the two good bits with a new UJ.

Are you sure it is the outer wheel bearing?

        Hi Richard

No I am not sure if it is the bearings, all I know is I get a drumming/intermittent but regular low drone noise( wom wom wom wom wom )from the back end when driving.

How can one tell if it's the bearings or U.J.'s ? I have just finished a complete restoration-you name it ,it was done/replaced except the rear shafts so in all honesty I will do them both to do a 100% job...the UJ on the drive shaft has been replaced.
