Dash Board

I have an Inca 76 Auto with the original orange dash. I can't decide whether to re veneer the original in walnut or to recut the panels in a different colour. Black is first option Mat black acrylic could work. With all that yellow around a wooden dash doesn't seem to make sense. Whatever I do I will keep the original dash. It would also give me the oportunity to reduce the width of the glove flap and leave room for the clock on the right of it. Any one tried a different colour dash?

Matching yellow might be too OTT.

I fancied piano black wood like the dash in a XJ sport Jaguar but went for walnut in the end

Are you suggesting I have a rusty dashboard! Could expalin the colour. I'm liking this Piano black at the moment. Could do with a taster pot of it really. I do have some marble left over from the kitchen I've just finished.

How about engine turned stainless steel,like Bugatti? Transparent acrylic might be interesting. Martin.

Using paint is not as stupid as it sounds, I went to a customer who builds very expensive kitchens the other day and they high gloss kitchens are sprayed multi coats colour then 4 coats of lacquer looks amazing!

Piano black is a stunning finish, first the wood is ebonised, then french polished, that's 18 or 20 coats of shellac applied by hand, I don't think you could replicate it with spray. In a car, wouldn't it just look like gloss black ? Martin. P.S. I meant it about engine turning.

There are a huge number of laminates out there that might do the job. I feel the urge to buy a knackerd dash and do some experiments. Any one got one.Mike

Sadly not, but the Triumph show is coming up at Stoneleigh on March 6th, you'll have a choice. Martin.
