Angouleme Circuit des Remparts tour 2011

Hiall After reading the account of Emrys Barrell in the November edition of the Mag I am very interested in going next year.I phoned Continental car tours to enquire to see if they are to organise a tour but sadly they are not.

Emrys also described the chateau where they stayed which seemed really nice.I propose that those of us interested could contact the chateau with a view to making it our base for a few days touring the area before the race day-costs...etc.

As it is only early December we have plenty of time to look at the proposal and organise.

What ever the interest I will be going in my Stag and a few/lots more Stags could make for a very enjoyable time ( No time suggestions yet but perhaps four or five days) for more info on the event see http://www.circuit-de-remparts.com.Meanwhile I will be contacting Emrys for info.

I would suggest that those interested could then discuss apotioning the project among ourselves in order to lessen the workload.i.e..Ferry tickets,Hotel,Route,Places to visit, parking for the race day...etc

Upon looking at a commercial tour site they advertise this tour for nine days for nearly £3.000 for two !!
Come on we've got nearly a year to plan for this ! we could do this for much less

Hi David, I noticed an advert for 'Classic Car Tours International' in Practical Classics. They do a tour to Angouleme. Check out http://www.classiccartoursinternational.co.uk/tours.html
Their prices seem reasonable and lunch at 'Moulin du Roc' is an event not to be missed.
I have no connection with this firm etc.

      Thanks very much Peter

I looked at their site. The photgraphs realy give food for thought and make me even more determined to go.For nine days they want nearly three grand ! I am positive it can be done for much less and as I only plan for ???? a four or five day trip costs will be much more sensible.the length of the trip will depend on what those who are interested want.Nothing has been set yet and we've nine months to decide.

      Thanks once again

Hi Dave, I hear what you are saying. I did the Le Mans Classic with Continental Car Tours and was dissapointed.

Anyone going to Angoulem this September - planning to go for a couple of days myself and if there is anyone else in the area between the 16th & 18th September would be nice to meet up for dinner etc.
