Leads on flea bay worth it or not

Gent's saw these on Fleabay and wondered would it be of much benefit to fork out this type of money for leads, or is there a cheaper alternative which would be as good

I certainly wouldn't go to the expense Mike.

I changed mine - but only because they were black and I wanted the original green

I'm sure you'll get plenty of different views on here but, to me, a lead has just got to carrycurrent (ok at massive voltage) and most leads seem to do that ok :?

    Cheers

Julian could you recommend a supplier or the type you have mate. The ones that I have are green but they look like they have been there a while How long would these be expected to last in you opinion. Going by my records they were installed by previous owner about 4 years ago although they have only covered about 2K miles

Yep, I totally and utterly agree with Dave

I ALWAYS look at LDParts first for everything and if they stock it then you can be assured it's good. On top of that, their prices are often better than the others and, I think, every single order from them has arrived the next day !!

Furthermore, if you ever need to ask about anything then Peter is happy to talk to you and he really knows his stuff.

No, I'm not connected to them but, as you may have gathered, I'm one very satisfied customer

However, I do have one complaint about LDParts...... they don't supply every single component for a Stag

          Cheers

Ok guys thanks for that. What ferequency should you set for changing the leads or do you just run them until they start to fail??

I'd just run them till you get problems - or fancy another colour

              Cheers

Hi Mike. There is a lot of hype around for ignition products, but basically any good quality modern lead (Silicone)will do the job and should last for many years. Typical failures are mechanical rather than electrical ie the terminations or terminals break, or pull away from the cable. The leads themselves are pretty reliable, its the lead ends that fail on cheap makes.

Keep your leads undamaged and clean, and check that the terminalsfeel secure onto the leads; if no misfiring they should be OK for further service.

I think Peter at LD Partsellssomemodern specs leads which are same diameter and colouras original; these should do the job.

                Cheers

                    Mike,

I got a set of these, extremely cheap and I can thoroughly recommend them.

                    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=130453223286

I was sceptical for the money, but when they arrived the leads are printed as 'Champion silicone'and they have fully sealed caps. They are 8mm and as they are fairly soft they fit within the existing Stag clips without pinching. The coil on my car has been moved at some time, and they even sent a longer coil lead free of charge after I had found the existing one to be too short.

No association etc, but as long as you don't want the original look (green), these seem to be great value for money.

                    Jeremy
