HT leads - should they spark when touched?

Hi All

The GT6 was running,like a pig today on tickover so I have spent the last hour out in the darkness investigating.

I noticed that with the engine running if I touched the HT leads with my fingers, small sparks would dance between the lead and my skin. Is this normal or are the leads on the way out? I only fitted then in February:?

Didn't feel a thing. It was small sparks not a the big blue belt that you get when grabbing hold of the lead to pull it off the plug whilst not wearing rubber gloves:shock:. So my trousers are still dry thanks

Glad to hear it Bruce.

Normally if you touch the leads you shouldn't feel anything, unless they are dirty and damp, when it is likely you will get some tracking. As you surmise, it sounds to me as if they are on the way out.

change them bruce they are shagged insulation resistance is compromised and there is no fix only a good quality replacement set.
