CARS AND CHARITY EVENTS

"Dear Sir

What do you think of the suggestion that car enthusiasts, like the Triumph Stag Club, are NOT WELCOME to engage in charity work, charitable associations or the true christian faith because of the harm done to our health and the world's climate?

People are beginning to get irritated by the number of attempts to "spread" the health risks they creat by asociating themselves with charities.

What is your view of this growing hatred of car enthusiasts and their charity ploys to deflect climate change issues?

This is typical political nonsense based on misconceptions. We should celebrate our heritage; no one is advocating further mass production of cars which may not be environmentally friendly, but why should we not be proud of our heritage and still do something for charity; after all the charities would be glad of the money. Only ill informed charities would be weak enoough to worry about their associations with classic cars.

Anyway, as J.Clarkson said "help global warming; drive a V8"

The Devon Air Ambulance Trust has always been very happy to be associated with the classic car and bike movement. We, the Devon Area, have raised thousands over the years and there is another classic event being organised (not by the SOC) next April to benefit the DAAT. They love us

It doesn't seem to bother our village carnival committee. Profits raised are donated to various charities and every year they ask locals if they haveopen top cars to be part of the parade, (carrying carnival queens etc).

I can't remember the exact words they use, but they are looking for something classicnot your average Megane with a folding tin top.

what rubbish - there are numerous charity classic car shows, runs and shows that are for charity but have a classic car show as part of it. Just the press trying to make a story out of nothing as usual!! eg
