    Headrest Foams; make your own

I have been experimenting with various ways of making headrest foams from stock sheet foam, and I have had quite good results. By rolling up the foam and using this as a pad for the front areayou can get the nice rounded shape without special cutting equipment. I used 1/2 inch recon foam (firm and inexpensive) as the frontal pad, and 3/4 inch medium density foam as the over wrap to give a soft even finish. You just need to get the foams, some spray glue, scissors and a stapler to do the job. Takes 1/2 hour once youhave all the info.

If anyone is going to tackle this job soon, I would be happy to share some pictures and dimensions, plus a few notes to help.

    Hi Chris,

I'd be very interested in the details as it looks like a job I might be able to tackle myself! I'm too chicken to attemptthe seat squabsthough so I'll be in touch in the new year

    Cheers,

    Bob.

To do the headrests you will prob. need to get the back panel off, which is easy, but then getting the back panelon again is not; I find it frustrating trying to get those bl**dy screws back in those stupid little holes.

If you do have a go at the headrests, thenwhile back panel is off you might as well do the back foams Or I suppose you could do the headrests, then drop it all over to me if you want.

      Cheers

Hi Bob. Or you could buy moulded foams from AldridgeTrimming @ £20.00 the pair & do a profesional job. By the time you have bought the foam & made a mess, it is certainly quicker & easier. Vames

made my own up some time ago from bits of foam and crap I had lying around after I'd replaced the seat foams and worked out ok, just took awhile to get the right shape.with hindsight £20 for a pair of foams ready made is the way to go thoug.
