    Tilt seat knob

    Hi -

could someone tell me how the black plastic knob on the side of the front seats that allows the back rest to tilt forward comes off? simple I know but I am doing the foams in my seat and cannot get it off. Have tried twisting and pulling but I am afraid of breaking it.

    thanks

      Hello Mrs. Giles

I could well be wrong as I havew never taken one off and instead only fitted one on, but I think it is a matter of brute force when pulling.

looks like my wife has little faith in my abilities  (possibly with good reason but we shall see!!)

        - the problem was she wanted a hand with dinner but I said I needed to find out how to get the blasted knob off first. Didn't work still had to help with dinner

Yep, Ian's right. I've had quite a few off and it is really just brute force. The only thing I'd add is that it will come off easiest if you can lever both top and bottom of the knob however be careful to avoid damaging the escutchelon (Oooh that's a big word) as it's not too strong.

However, If you do break it, I think I've got another one I could give you.

          Good luck.

          Cheers

          Julian

              Giles.

I could not get mine off but it is possible to remove the cover and replace foam with it on. Just loosen the plate and you can work round it.Probably take less time than brute force.

              John.

                Hello Giles,

When I did my seats I had to pull quite heavily, but in the end it worked!

                Good luck, Dieter.

thanks for the help - got it off (it is easier when you know that it should just pull off), and helped with dinner

Just the foams to do now:?

                          Hi Giles,

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with this as I've got to do mine soon. What foams are you using ?

                          Cheers

                            Hi Julian

Igot some from Aldridge - only done a headrest so far, thought I would start with something easy. It looks pretty good! Have to do the driver's backrest as the side bolsters have almost disappeared, going to do that and see how I get on :?.
