Well, I've just landed on this planet and everyone is getting really excited about something they call Christmas.
I've been trying to work out what it is, and have come across several possibilities.
- it's got something to do with reindeer
- it's got something to do with small birds with red breast markings
- it's got something to do with balls of snow with carrots stuck in them
- it's got something to do with the North Pole
- it's got something to do with a Greek guy called St Nicolas who died on 6th December
- it's got something to do with a guy in long red robes from a Coca Cola advertising campaign
- it's got something to do with fir trees
Looking at the topics of North Pole, snow, trees and wild animals, I'm guessing that it's got something to do with nature and global warming.
Just yesterday someone told me that it was about the birth of a Jewish kid whose arrival sparked off thousands of years of war and persecution, but I think this is a load of rubbish. None of the advertising posters or whatever which I've seen show any mention of this.
