In case anyone's interested I've had a response from racetorations and they say that their TR6 release bearing kit will fit the Stag. Its perhaps a bit pricier than sourcing an alternative bearing and making it fit but it does have the advantage of being a bolt on replacement.
good that you heard back from them - this game is all about having options, and this looks like a good choice for an all-in-1 off the shelf kit  ............... ok, who has a dodgy clutch and 450 quid to try it out ?

    Let's share it Andy.......

I'll provide the dodgy clutch and you provide the 450 quid....

    Sounds fair to me!!

Well I have a dodgy clutch and am determined to put a hydraulic release bearing in... but I also want to fit an AP clutch and cover plate and that's going to drain the piggy bank a bit too. Don't really want to spend £600 ish in total replacing the clutch(!) so a DIY option for the release bearing is attractive where possible.

AP racing clutch platefor standard Stag fitment isCP-2394-60. The same pressure plate but with a release plate fitted is CP-2394-14. This means you can use a flat face release bearing, and increases the installed height.

Interesting. What's the advantage of increasing the "installed height"?

I was going to go for the standard one (without the release plate) since I'll be using the Tilton release bearing which is intended for standard style clutch plates.

It's just for info really, the Tilton units are quitespecific on tolerance for the range of the piston stroke which is why they recommend a pedal stop. I see racetorations sell a 0.625 bore master cylinder with their kit, presumably to reduce the swept volume and thus the piston stroke. Do they spec a pedal stop?

I found that the set up I had planned with a round faced Tilton bearing wouldn't work as it was outside the min and max installed height limits for that unit.

By going to a release plate type clutch cover I am now back inside the limits as it is 5mm higher off the flywheel, and there is a 1/2 inch longer piston available for that type if needs be.

Of course none of these problemswill be the same on the triumph box as I'm using a T5 with a Tilton nosepiece.

The quality of the Tilton gear is excellent, really nicely made. Lets hope it performs as well as it looks.

Interestingly they do still specify that you need to install a pedal stop.

I'm in real luck in that a friend at work bought one of the racetorations kits for his TR6 but has not yet got around to fitting it. He brought it in today so I could have a look at it!
