    brake cylinder

just spent a wonderful afnoon removing brake master cylinder, servo and clutch cylinder in preparation for work to the bulkhead and engine bay, found a small amount of fluid in the servo about a table spoons worth, do I need to change or reseal the cylinder? its not been using fluid or white smoking from the exhaust.also think I might reseal the clutch cylinder whilst its off.any advice chaps :?

Stripping and resealing the master cylinder is a tricky job and unless the bore is perfect you will be back to square one in a very short time.

For peace of mind, buy a new master cylinder. They are available on ebay, or you could go for a re-sleeved one from LDpart.

I totally agree with David, buy new as compared to the value of the and the one in front as you drive, its cheap and you have peace of mind.

As Dave commented, you can get them here and they have a stainless steel lining:-

sent for a new cylinder this morning, fluid was a tad rusty coloured so new cylinder and fluid should clean things up a bit.found 2 nice little holes hiding in the inner arch behind the servo and down at the bottom end where the cable clips just pulled away with remains of metal so more bloody work and money !!

            Hello,

LDParts say that the guarantee extinguishes, if you use silicone, as the gaskets swell.

            Kind regards, Dieter.

well, solved the problem with the clutch cylinder seals as they are the wrong type so returned to LD to replace with the "old type" seals to suit a tapered spring !
