    fuel

Just been out for a 50 mile run to keep it running about 1/2 mile from home car started to play up cutting out checked pump fuses cut off switch nothing sat there for about five minutes car started but run for a very short time cut out again. I also could not here my pump ticking

i have had this problem in the past which seemed to cure it's self so after a few more minutes i decided open the fuel cap to my surprise i was welcomed with a big woosh and bang as the air rushed back into the tank, so i seem to be creating a vaccum in my tank .has anyone else suffered this problem i did have to fit a new seal on the petrol cap before its mot.

Hiya, glad it was such a simple fix. The tank breather is blocked, have a poke around the filler tube, there are several pipes connected to it and one may have collapsed. Martin.

Agree with Martin here. Many years ago I had a Midget that used to make a big plop and a donk sound on cap removal and didn't seem to have a large tank capacity. The garage found blocked breather and also the vacuum being created had partly collapsed the tank lowering the capacity!
