Indicator and side light gaskets part number 150627

I've just taken out my indicator units, including thebase plate for repaint. I've noticed the gaskets are made of foam, and because of this I think it has contributed to the rust behind the units because the foam is holding water. As these gaskets will get wet, surely these should be of rubber? Are the new replacement ones also made of foam? If so I might just use silicon sealant instead....

Hi I could be wrong but I think they are always a type offoam gasket. Same material that is used for the gasket between bath taps and the bath. Whilst it is a type of foam is the type which should not act as a sponge & absorb water. It compresses nicely to form a good seal If yours are it is probably down to age etc. None of us perform as well as we did when we were younger :?Well I don't anyway.

I would avoid silicone if posible whist it will do a good job and look tidy if well applied it is a complete pain to remove.

There was someone selling gaskets on ebay a while ago. I bought the complete set for a Stag. Made from black, high density foam (neoprene?) and excellent quality. I will see if I can find out who it was.

The earlier models had a rubber moulded gasket behind, much better than the later mod. You can pick them up s/h if you keep your eyes peeled. I think they changed on a 'P' reg. ( I assume you mean the rear ones).

Thanks for the replies, I should have stated, the indicators are the front indicators, not the rear.

I did the same. Gaskets-R-us was the seller but just checked and no items for sale at present.
