Similar I guess but that one isn't visually an original classic radio which I guess for some people is the point..
Yea totally agree but does looks more retro than a standard new style car stereo.

I don't think I would ever go for one of those Moss ones in a Stag. The looks are slightly "retro" when it's off, but not when it's on.

The Tadpole ones are...shall we say..somewhat expensive. Depends on what they have "done" to them but if it is just wiring up an MP3 jack then you can find those exactly the same on Ebay for anywhere between £70-£100.

Mine's the same as Nib's...just still not fitted. I am going with the single dash speaker for now for authenticity!

If you're not deadset on genuine 'retro' stylings, IMO the Pioneer DEH-P77 unit is a good compromise on retro looks and suits our Stag well - with it's twin 'analogue like' control knobs and minimalist styling.

          Further info & pics in the following thread ;

Soundwise, they sound absolutely fantastic, a real quality unit. When new they were quite pricey but can now be picked up for around £100 on Ebay - often with the optional Ipod interface which allows decent Ipod control from the head unit. Only downside these days is no USB capability, if that's important to you.

We also now have the same setup in our Commer camper but with the optional steering wheel remote control (as it's difficult to fiddle with the stereo and wrestle with the Commer steering at the same time :shock. The remote costs around £15 on Ebay

Did the vocalist get all the patter off like the great PL Ian?

He did his best but obviously it wasn't quite the same. Musically he sounded like the great PL just enough to make it a bit authentic but not enough to make it sound like an impression.

It was a cracking gig actually, excellent version of "whisky in the jar", and all the hits like "the boys are back in town" together with some stuff only fans would know. (some I didn't, not quite old enough)

Def leppards lead guitarist actually turns out to be rather more talented than I had realised. If you like Lizzy's stuff its well worth the price of the ticket IMO.

I've thought of leaving the old radio in place. It still works well. And buying a remote controlled amp/ radio and hiding it somewhere under the dash. Speakers in the cubby holes and two forward facing speakers in boxes under the frot seatsfacing forwards. There is a radio out there that will also blue tooth your phone fro hands free. I know JVC do one for around £125. But there are cheeper versions. Plus if it's out of sight doesn't matter what it looks like.

A friend of mine who lives in Florida was going out with the lead singer a few years back, can't remember his name now, (the lead singer) she (my friend) arranged flights and was involved with tour dates of some sort. That was when Mike Lee was the drummer who has sadly passed away now at a young age. He toured with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page a while back. Small world.

John Sykes was the lead singer I was talking about but left the group on 2009. Apparently he sounded very much like Phil Lynott.

I SAW LIZZY TWO OR THREE TIMES WHEN THEY HAD THE TWO GUITARISTS SCOTT GORAHM AND BRYAN ROBERTSON. THEY WERE FANTASTIC LIVE AND THE GUITAR HARMONIES SOUNDED BRILLIANT. ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BANDS.

                          Hi Jeff

John Sykes was with Lizzy with Phil in the early 80s after leaving Tygers Of Pan Tang after that he joined Whitesnake but got s**t on by Coverdale and rejoined the reformed Lizzy in recent years.

The last time I saw them was at Milton Keynes in 81 by this time Snowy White had joined them. When the line up was Lynott,Gorham,Downey and Robbo I dont think there was a better live band.

                            Hi Mark,

Just checked out his website, didn't realise his history.

                            Jeff.

I would have loved to seen them with this line up.

                                Thanks for all the feedback.

I have looked at some of the new 'retro' style radios and, whilst they would suit some cars, probably not a Stag.

I cannot see a working website for the Vintage Wireless Company, and I love the look of Nib's Radiomobile in the picture so have ordered a Radiomobile from tadpoleradios. Here's to some good weather to test it in !

                                Regards
