    Software Microsoft office etc

    Hi all

Number one son had a laptop for Christmas and wanted office for his homework. He was told to try www.software4students.co.uk by his teacher. As long as you register a student and their school I was able to order office professional 2010 for just over £40.00 it works on 2 computers and came as genuine discs. I haven't found a catch yet

Take a look it might be useful

P.S. i think the only way you'll get MSO cheaper is through a Company-sponsored Home Use Program

      Is there an expiry/trial date?

Mine only lasted 3 months unless you can prove you're a student.

        Cheers Phil,

I just purchased that. Good price for something I was about to buy elsewhere for a lot more. Glad my son is at school :-)

That's how I got mine - I think it cost me £17. It is office 2003. Sadly the offer is no longer open at my company for me to get the current version. :-(

Student software is offered cheaper because, at yearly or quarterly intervals (see 3 months remarked above) the software company puts in all of their receipts to the Government. If it is determined that the sale is bona fide, then the software company gets, in effect, a subsidy which makes up for their loss.

This subsidy is financed by the Inland Revenue. If it is determined that the case was "fiddled" then you get a letter from the Inland Revenue (they have your name and address from the receipt!) with a warning about tax evasion being a criminal offence etc. and a statutory fine (as well as the cost of the price difference).

Only joking! I've no idea why the stuff is cheaper. I don't need MS Access anymore, so bought the home edition which is pretty cheap as software goes.

            The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Yes great offer my daughter uses it it helps indoctrinate our children in to using Bill Gates software "I will rule the world"
                    However don't forget (http://www.openoffice.org/)
This more or less the same as Office except its for free,it does not clutter up you screen with a tool bar that takes up 70% of your screen, its much smarter when inserting pictures etc in to "word" and it will open most types of document. Try it you will be amazed and yes it is free and is supported by many people across the world including several governments (but not ours!! we still pay Bill).
If you don't like windows operating system try "Ubuntu" that's free as well and if you run it on your PC it will feel like you've just switched on a turbocharger. OK rant over.
                    Paul.

As Nick said there is no catch providing your kids are at school or your a student (there is a definition on the web site). MS don't follow it up from what I can see they leave it to the retailer who supports this scheme.

I have bought Windows 7 and Office this way. So much cheaper. Another site I have used is

                        http://students.pugh.co.uk/index.php

Nowt to do with me but might sometimes have a slightly different price/deal.

                        Cheers

                        Glyn
