Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me with a small electrical / wiring problem that I have with my heater switch, which I am not able to resolve on my own.
At the present time the switch and blower work but the wrong way round. In other words when I pull the heater switch knob out to its first stop, the blower motor works at full speed. When I then pull the switch out one stop further, the blower goes to slow speed.
I thought that it would be a simple process of changing some connections to the switch, but when I removed the radio to have a look, I found that it was not as simple as first thought.
I have attached a photo of the wiring as it is at this moment with the problems previously explained. I have numbered the terminals from top to bottom as 1 to 4. There are two terminals to the centre black part of the switch (2 & 3) and then two terminals to the two outer edges of the switch (1 & 4). The two terminals at the outer edges at the moment in time do not have any wires connected to them. I have a purple and blue wire at connector 2 and a green and white wire at terminal 3.
When I took the radio out I have found two sets of unconnected wires in this area and wonder if they should also be connected to this switch. The two sets of unconnected wires comprise of two black wires connected together onto a single female spade connector and also a purple and green coloured wire connected to another female spade connector.
My questions are:-
1) How should the wires be connected to the back of this switch and should any of these extra unconnected wires be attached to this switch.
2) If it is not the wiring at the switch that is causing the problem then is it that the connections on the Heater Rheostat are the wrong way round, if so where do I find the Heater Rheostat.
I hope that someone can point me in the right direction.
