well thats another job that went wrong!! --- decided to change the seals on the oil pump and transfer housing, ( it was the transfer housing that was leaking, full of old silicone ect.) stripped them off , cleaned them up, put new seals on both, replace both, ( i had not taken the oil pump drive shaft out, it didnt come out when i lifted the pump off, and as i was only replacing seals, i left well alone), replace the exhaust, new filter, new oil, --- turn the engine on the starter, ------- and no oil presure, oil light stayed on, and no oil coming up the guage feed pipe!!! ---- took the oil filter off, no oil in it except the small amount i put in on reasemble, exhaust off again, pump off only to find the pump drive shaft twisted and snapped, managed to extract the top end that was still in the engine,( the end looks perfect, no damage) checked the pump and at first it would nearly go around one rotation them jam ( same place ) both directions. took the cover off and found quite a deep gouge mark where the rota would travel.
sorry this is long winded, but as you can imagine im well pissed off with events so far. any one have any ideas what could have happened, or what i could have done wrong, will be getting all new bits next week and dont want the same thing to happen,
many thanks steve
