    Central Locking

Had a Cobra alarm and immoboliser fitted on Friday and went for the upgrade of central locking to the doors, BRILLIANT!! Best improvement I have made to the car, no more fiddling around with the drivers door lock trying to get the key in the right place so that the tumblers work. Just press the button and job done, well pleased

I have the same alarm, but no centeral locking....

I wonder if its the same model considering my alarm was fitted in 2003, is it all one kit???
This is something I would love to do as well...

The Cobra system is a 4138, it did not come with the locking units but did have the wireing included to fit them.

You may be able to go the next step if it's got the facility, and that's have automatic window closing..........................And you could fit a boot lock that will wire into your normal central locking.

On the cobra alarms you can have automatic windows closing, and you just need another door motor 3 wire for the boot to operate with central locking

I did gear a rumour on here once that BMW used a design similar to The Stag's Soft top frame on one of the early 3 Series' electric hoods. I don't know any more than that though! (Central locking and now Heated front seats are projects in the pipeline for me now. . (No time scale in mind though - I have had the Central Locking kit for 12 months now!

                    Hi Frank,

The company that fitted the system was Guardian Security in Chadwell Heath Essex telephone number 020 8597 7774. All in, supply and fit cost £400 which I did not think was too bad since I had been quoted between 350-450 just for the alarm and immobaliser, they also came to my house to do it whereas I had to leave the car with the others for the whole day. I might add that the guy took nearly six hours to fit everything and made a really good job.

                    Regards, Steve

if you fit the solenoid to the internal door locking mechanism and disconnect the door lock the only way you can open the door is with the alarm i had a clifford with this setup even smashing the window means you still cant open the door the internal door locking mechanism and handles only work when solenoids in unlocked position short of riping door card off the door is unopenable when locked but functions completely normal unlocked you can even lock car from inside it smaller door latch thingy

You worried me for a moment there, but the lock mechanism has clearly not had to be disconnected. Having locked the car with the alarm fob I can still unlock the car with the key in the normal way but obviously the alarm goes off if you open the door.

yes your correct but was just stating that disconnecting the lock and using the keyfob means no one can pick your lock coz it doesnt work its disconnected only way you can enter car is by the alarm central locking
