Stainless Sill Covers - how to fit?

    Morning all,

After an enthusiastic weekend doing some general maintenance (amazing what a bit of decent weather does isn't it), I have decided to fit the stainless sill covers that have been sat in my shed for 6 months.

Problem is, I can't work out how/where the fixing strip attaches. Does anyone have any pictures that might guide me. The fixing strip has numerous riveting holes, but I noticed that it is slightly longer than the covers themselves. I would therefore assume that it must attach underneath out of site?

I'm probably being a bit thick, but it had been a long day!

Yes thanks Dave. I've got the 2 bits in the top image, but none of the bits in the lower image.

As mentioned the retaining strip (630223/630222) is longer that the sill cover itself, so should I be trimming it? Does the retaining strip fit on the sill on the raised bit that runs just below the door, or should it be fixed just below it?

HI The retaining strip goe's under the step of the silland yes you will have to trim down the strip.Offer up the sill Finisher's and you will see how it is supposed to fit,

You might want to use self tapping screw's instead of rivet's to fit the sill finisher's so you can check your main sill's from time to time, but you will have to use rivet's on the retaining strip.

Hope this is some help Steve

Fantabulous - thanks for your help people. I will get them on tout suite. I have been advised by several people that the fitting strip can be attached using double sided tape, but given the cost of these items, I'd rather not risk it.

I have sourced some stainless steel rivets as rumour has it ali ones may corrode (?), and to thank you all for your advice, I'll get some piccies up as soon as the job is complete. 8-)

there was a new super glue on sale at the ally pally at the weekend, that should do the trick if you dont find the bits you are looking for. It certainly looked sticky enough!

Got them off e-bay, £3.99 for a bag of 50. I was told that I need 3/16 rivets so I ordered some 4.8's as they are the closest metric equivilent. I wasn't sure what length of rivet to get and in the end I ordered 12mm.
